Waipari is a remote whenua block near Tongariro National Park. It includes native forest and farmland and has environmental, cultural and whakapapa value. Puketapu 3A Incorporation holds the whenua for the benefit of its shareholders and future generations.
Because of its location and land type, there are limited ways to earn income from Waipari without making major changes to the whenua. Leasing it for managed hunting, accommodation and outdoor activities provides an income for shareholders while supporting the long-term care of the whenua.
Access is restricted so activities can be carried out safely and the whenua can be managed responsibly.
